How to Choose the Right Chest Flower for Your Wedding

Red Rose Boutonniere with Greenery

A chest flower is a small detail, but in wedding photos it sits right at the centre of your look. Getting it right is easier than most grooms expect. Here is how we help customers choose.

Start with your suit colour

Dark suits in black, charcoal or navy can carry almost any flower. White, ivory and off-white roses give a clean, classic finish. Red and burgundy blooms add warmth and stand out well under stage lighting. For lighter suits in beige, grey or cream, go for blush, dusty pink or mauve so the flower does not wash out.

Match the theme, not the bouquet

Your chest flower should feel like part of the same story as the décor and the bride’s bouquet, but it does not need to be an exact copy. Pick one colour from the wedding palette and let the flower carry it.

Keep the size in proportion

A good chest flower sits neatly on the lapel and does not reach past the edge. With a narrow lapel, choose a single rose with light greenery. Broader lapels can take a fuller arrangement with dried accents or ribbon.

Place it correctly

Wear it on the left lapel, over the heart, roughly in line with the buttonhole. Pin it from behind so the pin does not show, and angle the stem slightly towards the shoulder.

Think about the groomsmen

Grooms often wear a fuller flower while groomsmen wear a simpler version in the same colour. It ties the party together without everyone looking identical. We make matching groomsmen sets on request. Just message us with your numbers and colours.
