Brooch or Lapel Pin? Adding Metal to Your Formal Look
Flowers are not the only way to finish a lapel. A metal brooch or lapel pin adds a sharp, lasting accent you can wear again and again, at weddings, receptions, office events and formal dinners.
Brooch or pin: what’s the difference?
A lapel pin is small and sits through the buttonhole or just beside it. A brooch is larger, often with more detail, and sometimes comes with a hanging chain that links to a second pin. Our ship wheel and caduceus designs come in both styles.
Choose one statement piece
If you wear a brooch, let it be the main accent. Skip the chest flower, and keep the tie and pocket square simple. Wearing a brooch and a flower together tends to crowd the lapel.
Silver suits cool tones
Polished silver and rhinestone pieces look best on navy, grey and black suits. A chain brooch adds a little movement and catches light well in photos.
Symbols with meaning
Many customers choose a design that means something to them: a ship wheel or anchor for those with a naval or maritime connection, or a caduceus for doctors and medical professionals. It makes a thoughtful gift too.
